![]() It is obviously popular-we arrived at 12:00noon. Our son has been going to Vanderbilt, which means we have experienced Hot Chicken at the source. I was excited to read in CTBites that a new restaurant had opened in New Haven specializing in Nashville Hot Chicken. With regard to cost, the sandwiches are probably closer to what you're going to pay at a sit down restaurant than what you would pay at a fast food chain but they are definitely a step up! That being said, I think Haven Hot chicken will be an occasional treat for me. They give you a LOT of fries so be prepared to share. The fries are tasty and not overly salty. I'm excited to try that when my mouth cools off! The restaurant also substituted a banana pudding for fries on one of my combos. I really appreciate them looking out for me that way. They took the initiative to say that Rob's Sauce has mayo and they put that on the side too. With regard to the service, I explained to the person taking my order that someone in my party doesn't eat mayo so I would want the slaw on the side. There seems to be a strong Cayenne flavor and not just heat. The batter is thick all around the chicken and provides a generous crunch and lots of flavor. I like hot and this sandwich was a little to hot for me to eat without taking a break. I ordered a Hot Chicken Sandwich and a Haven Chicken sandwich and the Haven does not disappoint. I've been wanting to eat at Haven Hot chicken for a while and missed all of their pop up events during the pandemic. ![]()
